The Mountaintops Jayawijaya-Indonesia, Special Place for "Eternal Snow"

In Indonesia, we can only find snow on the mountaintops Jayawijaya. Special, snow on snow Jayawijaya unlike in the 4 seasons are just a few months. Snow in one of the highest peak in Indonesia will be there forever. Then the indigenous people called it "eternal snow".

Jayawijaya Mountains is a mountain range that lies at the center of the province of West Papua and Papua (Indonesia) to Papua New Guinea on the island of New Guinea. There are six peaks in the mountainous Jayawijaya, namely Puncak Jaya (formerly Peak Carstenz Pyramide), Meren Peak, Peak Northwall, Ngga Island Peak, Peak Sudirman, and Peak Trikora. Peaks with eternal snow peaks exist only in the first four. But unfortunately this eternal snow began to melt due to global climate change.

Of the six peaks in these mountains, Puncak Jaya is the highest peak 4884 meters above sea level (masl). Even Jayawijaya mountain peaks named as one of the top seven continent. But you know, if the so-called peak of the continent was once the ocean floor? The proof of the various fossil sea shells found on the top of the mountain.

So that dream into the tops of pegungungan Jayawijaya not only hikers but also the world's geological research. Apparently 60 million years ago New Guinea was still in the seabed sediments formed by rocks. Long story short in time millions of years there has been a variety of tectonic activity and sedimentation resulting in the mainland of Papua which is still fused with Australia. Gradually the land is fragmented and produce the islands and mountains in Papua as we know it today.

Ice core, create a climate researchers, including a unique informants for the study of climate variability. Naturally, the object is to record the history of climate and environment in the past.
Recordings of the Puncak Jaya glaciers will later be integrated with recording glaciers of the Andes, South America, whose position in the eastern Pacific Ocean. From the compilation will be revealed new information about the variability of monsoon systems (wind circulation) Austral-Asia who now support the billions of inhabitants of the earth.

There are still many secrets of the rocks Jayawijaya untapped and there are still many who have never climbed the highest peak in Indonesia. So you choose which one? So researchers rock climbers accomplished or famous? Both can be done in Jayawijaya Mountains.
